Preserving The Drivetrain

LAMBDA USA remains dedicated to preserving the longevity of the transmission, transfer case, and drive-train as a whole. To achieve this, we continuously innovate and implement advanced methods to protect these critical components. Our overhauled ECU software features an all custom, true boost-by-gear implementation, allowing precise control of boost levels for each individual gear. This functionality not only optimizes performance but also safeguards essential components like the transmission and transfer case from excessive strain during hard launches. By reducing stress on the transmission, this feature also facilitates quicker up-shifts in the lower gears, enhancing overall performance and responsiveness. Additionally, we understand that transmission shift performance can degrade significantly in colder ambient temperatures. boost-by-gear ensures consistent operation and extends drive-train longevity even under challenging conditions.

Addressing Limitations

The factory ECU software performs well in its stock configuration, meeting the needs of the vehicle as designed. However, when pushing the boundaries of power output, substantial modification is required to maintain factory-like reliability and consistency. In its original form, the TLX ECU relies on a low-resolution, three-dimensional turbocharger boost target table. While adequate for factory power levels, this table lacks the precision necessary to manage boost effectively within the 2000–5000 RPM range—a critical span that encompasses most of the power band. The limited resolution forces the ECU to interpolate values, which can result in poor boost management. This often leads to potential issues, including, but not limited to, over-boost conditions, when higher targets are commanded.

LAMBDA USA’s overhauled ECU software addresses this specific shortcoming by replacing the low-resolution boost target table with the high-resolution alternative found in the MDX. This upgrade delivers vastly improved precision in controlling boost targets across all previously neglected intervals, resulting in a dramatically smoother and more predictable power band when increasing boost pressures. This is just one example, of many more upgrades.
